LOMCE- The competences

In our last lesson we were seeing the different aspects that make up the law, the curriculum. That aspects are:
  • Objectives: references to the achievements that the student must attain at the end of the educational process, as a result of the teaching and learning experiences intentionally planned for this purpose.
  • Contents: set of knowledge, abilities, skills, and attitudes which contribute to the achievement of the objectives for each educational stage and the acquisition of the relevant competences. The contents are organised into subjects, which are classified into areas, fields and modules, depending on the educational stage, or the programmes students take part in.
  • Competences: abilities to apply the relevant contents of each educational stage in an integrated way, in order to achieve the correct realisation of the activities and the effective resolution of complex problems.
  • Measurable learning outcomes: specifications of the evaluation criteria which allow to define the learning results, and specify what the student must know, understand and know how to do, in each area; these standards must be observable, measurable, and assessable and must allow the graduation of the students' achievements. The standards must be designed in order to contribute and facilitate the use of standardized and comparable tests.
  • Evaluation criteria: specific references used to assess the students' learning process. They describe whatever it is that must be valued and that students must achieve, both in terms of knowledge and in competences; they respond to what is aimed to achieve in each area.
  • Teaching methodology: set of strategies, procedures and actions planned and organized by the teachers, consciously and reflexively, in order to promote the students' learning process and their achievements.

After all this definitions I am going to explain "WHAT HAVE WE LEARNT IN THIS CLASS?"

We´ve learnt how to look for the competences in real situations, in real activities that we are going to find at school, in our books. We have to know if we are really developing the competences, if we can identify them just reading an exercise. For that we had to do an activity in groups. Each group had a different activity and we have to find the different competences in this exercises. The competences are these:
My activity was about developing the reading and writing using a text. The text talked about our children have to see a film in English, so before they see the film they have to search for information on Internet about the film. The story is about some children that live in South Africa and we can see the racism and the prejudices the people had in this period of time (maybe 1950 or 1960)
Here you have a photo with our work:

IN MY OPINION this activity is very practical and useful because we are working with real materials in real situations that some day we are going to manage. We have to know the competences and we have to identify them in the exercises that we are going to prepare to our students. It is very important to try to develop most of the competences in all the activities because all of them are really significant.
