Listen and do

In this chapter we are going to see how listening and doing activities help children with these things: - To acquire English by listening to instructions. - To be active and enjoy doing things in English. - To use gestures to interpret meanings. - To get used to understanding general meaning. - To prepare for spoken interaction - To absorb good pronunciation and intonation patterns.      >> Giving instructions in English   It is very easy to use your mother tongue when asking children to sit, stand, or move around in preparation for another activity. It is often easier and quicker. But your aim is to teach them English, not to be quick. At first, while telling them what to do in English, you can use gestures and demonstrate what you want them to do. Teaching young learners

How to teach young learners English or a second language is the first chapter of the book "English for Primary Teachers" . With this book we have to prepare a presentation for our classmates in order to show them useful tips and advises to develop the different skills (speaking, listening, writing and reading) at Primary Education. In this first chapter we are going to see some useful instructions for us as future English Teachers. >> How children learn a second language?  Knowing how children learn their first language can help us teach them a second language. All children can speak at least one language when they come to school. We have to think about how they learn this first language. Think about babies and young children. Most mothers talk a lot to their children. E-PEL and EUROPASS

In this class we learn two very interesting and useful tools: the E-PEL (we saw this last year too) and the EUROPASS , something that is new for us because we have never heard about it. Firstly, I am going to show some images from the EUROPASS . But... What´s an " Europass " ?  The EUROPASS is a variety of documents which show your skills and your qualifications. You can find a curriculum vitae and a passport of languages. My example is here:  Secondly, you have the E-PEL. Something that you can do with your pupils in your English class.
